Description

Lovely apartment located in a quiet, pedestrian side-street in Barcelona’s fashionable and yet quaint "Born" neighborhood. The apartment has hardwood floors, high ceiling, with exposed beans and is decorated with lovely artwork by local artists and artesans. The master bedroom sleeps up to three people and has a balcony overlooking the street. The smaller bedroom sleeps up to two with a stowable trundle bed.The kitchen has recently been remodeled and comes fully equipped (oven, microwave, etc). There is also a large living/dining room which opens up to a balcony. Other amenities include a washing machine, TV and DVD player, Hi-Fi stereo, storage space, etc.

The Born is something of a hidden treasure in Barcelona. With its warren of cool, shady streets full of galleries, boutiques, artesan workshops, bars and restaurants of all kind it is as enchanting, if not more so than the famous but usually crowded Gothic Quarter located only 5 minutes away from the Born on the other side of Layetana Avenue. The Born has gone from being an unexplored and insular neighborhood a mere ten years ago to becoming the epicenter of local BCN fashion designers and fusion and fine-dining restaurants. It also has a thriving nightlife, replete with fashionable bars, open air cafes and discos. And yet, in spite of the modernization of the area it has been able to keep its neighborhood feel.

The Picasso Museum is literally a one-minute walk from the apartment, as is the white-stoned, Mediterranean Gothic Santa Maria del Mar Church, the Born Market where ruins recently dicovered are on display, and the Ciutadella Park where you can rent bicycles, rollerblades or take a ride in a paddle boat. Las Ramblas, which is only is 10-minute walk from the apartment, is considered the heart of the city. The tree-lined pedestrian strip is filled with flowers, outdoor cafes and restaurants, street performers and artists and connects the Plaza Cataluña with Barcelona's harbor. A 15-minute stroll towards the Mediterranean sea takes you to the Barceloneta: a seaside neighborhood famous for its white-sand beach and fresh seafood restaurants. Other nerby attractions include the Palau de la Musica, La Boqueria, Plaza Catalunya, and Barcelona's spired Gothic Cathedral. Also conveniently located is the yellow line of the BCN metro which takes you to the Gracia neighborhood and Gaudí's Sagrada Familia.
