There are 2 bird sanctuaries and 3 golf courses within 7 miles. Waimea Falls Park, operated by the Audubon Society, offers beautiful displays of native plants and animals.

Local shopping includes the Laie shopping center (only 1 mile away) and the Polynesian Cultural Center. Laie shopping center has a grocery store, a hardware store, an automotive store, a flower shop, a laundromat, a movie theater, banks, a beauty parlor, and many others. The Polynesian Cultural Center has a marketplace with locally owned shops for souveniers and gifts for friends and family back home. The Hauula Kai shopping center, 1/2 mile away, offers a grocery store and locally owned restaurants.
